OCO Training School
In 2003 OCO established and set up an in-house training school
which is sponsored by 3 leading boiler manufactures who often to use
the facilities in providing manufactures updates and new product
launches as
well as providing us with new equipment for our engineers to work on
and gain new skills. This initiative has especially enabled the
company to train and culture young local labour to become fully
fledged experienced engineers who the company believe will be the
backbone to the industry in years to come.
OCO place a high priority on staff training, and are keen to
emphasize the fact that many of the Directors and management staff
started out as trade apprentices, therefore understanding only to
well the importance of a good technical and practical grounding. It
is a source of great pride for the Company that OCO employees have
won prizes at the annual Best Trade Craft Apprentice of the year
awards.
OCO also run an active apprenticeship scheme and have a roll on
programme of a minimum of between 3 and 6 regular
Mechanical/Electrical apprentices each year. We are proud to report
that we have enjoyed receiving apprentice of the year award on three
occasions.
OCO Ltd recognises the need to train for the future and are quickly becoming one of the largest providers of mechanical apprenticeships in the South of England.
OCO invests heavily in staff training, and ensures that all operatives have undergone, and continue to undergo, all training relevant to their particular industry. Records of qualifications are held on an IT database file as well as a manual file and can be presented to the contract administrator as part of the pre-contract set up procedures. All staff are enrolled in a training programme which ensures they receive regular training during the course of their employment. The programme covers training and awareness in all areas of our work, e.g.
- New statutory legislation or regulations
- Induction to new contracts
- Changes in existing procedures or practices
- Manufacturers updates and new appliance introductions
- All aspects of IT training
- Customer care training
- Health and safety issues, etc.
In January 2006 OCO relocated its South London division to a new
purpose built premises double the size of the previous building
which has allowed us to facilitate the fully fledged certified ACS
training centre.

Following on from this OCO understand the need to recruit local
labour where ever possible and work closely with all our clients to
ensure we recruit apprentices and trainees through the designated
construction workplace coordinator. We also assist our local
education services by providing work experience for pupils with a
view to encouraging interest within the industry and providing an
overview of the office environment in which it serves.
OCO have invested heavily in our labour force over the years and
have incentives for many training programmes and apprentice schemes.
Never one to sit on our impressive reputation built up in over 2 decades we have, during that time, expanded our business in supporting two new divisions, electrical and water hygiene treatment.
